Russell Lehman, Executive Director

Russ became the Executive Director in June 2016. As a place where there is alignment of experience, passion, commitment and values, Russ is both extremely excited and incredibly optimistic about the opportunities for Food Action to make a difference. Russ brings his experience as an attorney, policy adviser, nonprofit creator and leader, and graduate faculty to the Network where his passion for truly sustainable communities can flourish… and be impactful. Russ spent 2013-2015 in Amsterdam, a truly magnificent place. When not working Russ is most often on a bicycle.

Arianna Muirow, Communications & Policy Director

Arianna joined our team as the Communications and Policy Director in February 2017. Arianna has a Masters degree in Regional Planning, focusing on food system planning, and has over a decade of career experience working in sustainable food planning, food justice, and public health. She is also working on completing her PhD at the University of Washington focused on the connections of technology and the food movement. Arianna comes to food work as the place where goals of social justice, environmental sustainability, and public health come together within an interconnected system. When she is not working Arianna is often out climbing big mountains in the North Cascades.


Peter VanNuland, Project Manager

Peter joined the team as the Project Manager in the spring of 2017. After graduating from Seattle University in 2014, Peter pursued a variety of interests. He bicycled across the United States, mentored youth in wilderness therapy, worked for a startup online farmer’s market, designed and installed edible permaculture landscapes, and became certified as a wilderness EMT. Though his path has been winding, Peter feels very drawn to helping heal our food system. In his free time, he enjoys practicing vipassana meditation, dancing, playing music, and growing food.


Emily Myette, Communications & Outreach Coordinator

Emily joined our team as the Communications and Outreach Coordinator in July 2017. Emily received her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and Political Science from Denison University in May of 2017 and is thrilled to start her career in Environmental Policy at Food Action. Though she is an advocate of all things sustainable, farming and food systems are her passion. Emily is a Washington State native, but has pursued environmental and food studies at school in Ohio, studying abroad in Spain, and working on an organic farm in Pennsylvania. When she is not in the office you can find her hiking, trying new recipes, or singing.
